A nd Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye contend for Baal? Or will ye save him? he that will contend for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him contend for himself, because one hath broken down his altar.

Ioas rispose a tutti quelli che insorgevano contro di lui: «Volete difendere la causa di Baal? Volete venirgli in soccorso? Chi vorrà difendere la sua causa sarà messo a morte prima di domattina; se esso è un dio, difenda egli stesso la sua causa, visto che hanno demolito il suo altare».
