A nd all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any that breathed.

Israeliţii au luat ca pradă toate lucrurile de valoare din acele cetăţi, precum şi toate animalele. Ei au nimicit însă întreaga populaţie, trecând-o prin ascuţişul sabiei şi nu au lăsat pe nimeni în viaţă.
