A nd as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;

وَكانَ النّاسُ يَنتَظِرُونَ مُتَلَهِّفِيْنَ، وَيَتَساءَلُونَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ عَنْ يُوحَنّا ظانِّينَ أنَّهُ رُبَّما يَكُونُ المَسِيْحَ.
