A nd he said, I have been very jealous for Jehovah, the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

– Am fost plin de râvnă pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul Oştirilor, a răspuns el, fiindcă israeliţii au încălcat legământul Tău, Ţi-au dărâmat altarele şi Ţi-au omorât profeţii cu sabia. Numai eu singur am mai rămas, iar ei încearcă să-mi ia şi mie viaţa.
