A nd it came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem.

La începutul anului, pe vremea când porneau regii la război, David l-a trimis pe Ioab, împreună cu slujitorii săi şi cu întreaga oştire a lui Israel, la război. Ei i-au nimicit pe amoniţi şi au asediat Raba. David însă rămăsese la Ierusalim.
