W hen the troops had come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Why has the Lord smitten us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord here from Shiloh, that He may come among us and save us from the power of our enemies.

Când s-au întors luptătorii în tabără, cei din sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel au spus: „De ce a adus Domnul astăzi peste noi această înfrângere din partea filistenilor? Să aducem din Şilo Chivotul Legământului cu Domnul ca să meargă cu noi şi să ne elibereze de sub puterea duşmanilor noştri.“
