T he Reubenites and Gadites called the altar Ed, saying, It shall be: A Witness Between Us that the Lord is God.

وَدَعا الرَأُوبَيْنِيُّونَ وَالجادِيُّونَ اسْمَ المَذْبَحِ «شاهِدٌ،» فَقَدْ قالُوا: «إنَّ شاهِداً بَينَنا حَقّاً. يهوه هُوَ اللهُ حَقّاً.»
