N o one sews a patch of unshrunken (new) goods on an old garment; if he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and the rent (tear) becomes bigger and worse.

Personne ne coud une pièce de drap neuf à un vieil habit; autrement, la pièce de drap neuf emporterait une partie du vieux, et la déchirure serait pire.
