F or the Lord had said to Moses, Say to the Israelites, You are a stiff-necked people! If I should come among you for one moment, I would consume and destroy you. Now therefore leave off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.

Căci Domnul îi zisese lui Moise: „Aşa să le spui israeliţilor: «Sunteţi un popor încăpăţânat; dacă pentru o clipă aş veni împreună cu voi, v-aş mistui. De aceea daţi-vă podoabele jos şi apoi mă voi hotărî ce voi face cu voi.»“
