A nd in every province, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and wailing, and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

Dans chaque province, partout où arrivaient l'ordre du roi et son édit, il y eut une grande désolation parmi les Juifs; ils jeûnaient, pleuraient et se lamentaient, et beaucoup se couchaient sur le sac et la cendre.
