H e had brought up Hadassah, that is Esther, his uncle’s daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. The maiden was beautiful and lovely, and when her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter.

El îngrijea de Hadasa, adică Estera, fiica unchiului său, căci ea nu avea nici tată, nici mamă. Tânăra era frumoasă la chip şi plăcută la înfăţişare. După moartea tatălui şi a mamei acesteia, Mardoheu o înfiase.
