A nd all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king delivered us from the hands of our enemies, and he saved us from the hands of the Philistines. And now he has fled out of the land from Absalom.

Entrementes todo o povo, em todas as tribos de Israel, andava altercando entre si, dizendo: O rei nos tirou das mãos de nossos inimigos, e nos livrou das mãos dos filisteus; e agora fugiu da terra por causa de Absalão.
