B ut the men said, You shall not go out. For if we flee, they will not care about us; if half of us die, they will not care about us. But you are worth 10, 000 such as we are. So now it is better that you be able to help us from the city.

Ma il popolo rispose: «Tu non devi venire; perché, se noi fossimo messi in fuga, non avrebbe importanza; anche se perisse la metà di noi, nessuno ci farebbe caso; ma tu conti per diecimila di noi; dunque è meglio che tu ti tenga pronto a darci aiuto dalla città».
