K ur Mardokeu mësoi të gjitha ato që kishin ndodhur, grisi rrobat e tij, u mbulua me një thes dhe me hi dhe doli nëpër qytet, duke lëshuar britma të forta dhe plot hidhërim;

Now when Mordecai learned all that was done, rent his clothes and put on sackcloth with ashes and went out into the midst of the city and cried with a loud and bitter cry.
