U ofroi flijime perëndive të Damaskut që e kishin mundur, duke thënë: Me qenë se perënditë e mbretit të Sirisë i ndihmojnë ata, unë do t’i ofrojj atyre flijime që të më ndimojnë edhe mua". Por qenë pikërisht ata që shkaktuan shkatërrimin e tij dhe atë të të gjithë Izraelit.

For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which struck him; and he said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, so I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
