A nd when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.

Quando Saul aveva visto Davide uscire contro il Filisteo, aveva chiesto ad Abner, capo dell'esercito: «Abner di chi è figlio questo giovane?». Abner rispose: «Com'è vero che tu vivi, o re, non lo so».
