a nd a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

And, A Stone that will cause stumbling and a Rock that will give offense; they stumble because they disobey and disbelieve Word, as those were destined (appointed) to do.
