h aving the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

فَأفكارُهُمْ مُظلِمَةٌ، وَهُمْ مُنفَصِلُونَ عَنِ الحَياةِ النّابِعَةِ مِنَ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ جَهلِهِمْ وَعَدَمِ تَجاوُبِهِمْ مَعَ صَوتِهِ.
