A nd the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)

Allora il re chiamò i Gabaoniti e parlò loro. I Gabaoniti non facevano parte dei figli d’Israele, ma erano un residuo degli Amorei; i figli d’Israele si erano legati a loro per giuramento; tuttavia Saul, nel suo zelo per i figli d’Israele e di Giuda, aveva cercato di sterminarli.
