P orquanto o próprio Herodes mandara prender a João, e encerrá-lo maniatado no cárcere, por causa de Herodias, mulher de seu irmão Filipe; porque ele se havia casado com ela.

For the same Herod had sent and seized John, and had bound him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of Philip his brother, because he had married her.
