E ntão disse Judá a Tamar sua nora: Conserva-te viúva em casa de teu pai, até que Selá, meu filho, venha a ser homem; porquanto disse ele: Para que porventura não morra também este, como seus irmãos. Assim se foi Tamar e morou em casa de seu pai.

Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, Remain a widow at thy father’s house until Shelah, my son, is grown; for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.
