A nd David saith to all his servants who with him in Jerusalem, `Rise, and we flee, for we have no escape from the face of Absalom; haste to go, lest he hasten, and have overtaken us, and forced on us evil, and smitten the city by the mouth of the sword.'

Allora Davide disse a tutti i suoi servi che erano con lui a Gerusalemme: «Levatevi e fuggiamo; altrimenti nessuno di noi scamperà dalle mani di Absalom. Affrettatevi a partire affinché non ci sorprenda improvvisamente e faccia cadere su di noi la rovina, e non colpisca la città passandola a fil di spada».
