1 O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God:

2 F or behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head.

Vê como se agitam os teus inimigos, como os teus adversários te desafiam de cabeça erguida.

3 T hey take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:

Com astúcia conspiram contra o teu povo; tramam contra aqueles que são o teu tesouro.

4 T hey say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more.

Eles dizem: “Venham, vamos destruí-los como nação, para que o nome de Israel não seja mais lembrado!”

5 F or they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.

Com um só propósito tramam juntos; é contra ti que fazem acordo

6 T he tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;

as tendas de Edom e os ismaelitas, Moabe e os hagarenos,

7 G ebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;

Gebal, Amom e Amaleque, a Filístia, com os habitantes de Tiro.

8 A sshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah.

Faze com os seus nobres o que fizeste com Orebe e Zeebe, e com todos os seus príncipes o que fizeste com Zeba e Zalmuna,

12 F or they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.

que disseram: “Vamos apossar-nos das pastagens de Deus”.

13 O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.

Faze-os como folhas secas levadas no redemoinho, ó meu Deus, como palha ao vento.

14 A s fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,

Assim como o fogo consome a floresta e as chamas incendeiam os montes,

15 S o pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind.

persegue-os com o teu vendaval e aterroriza-os com a tua tempestade.

16 F ill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.

Cobre-lhes de vergonha o rosto até que busquem o teu nome, Senhor.

17 L et them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:

Sejam eles humilhados e aterrorizados para sempre; pereçam em completa desgraça.

18 T hat they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.

Saibam eles que tu, cujo nome é Senhor, somente tu, és o Altíssimo sobre toda a terra.
