1 A nd God remembered Noah, and all the animals, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

Então Deus lembrou-se de Noé e de todos os animais selvagens e rebanhos domésticos que estavam com ele na arca, e enviou um vento sobre a terra, e as águas começaram a baixar.

2 A nd the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were closed, and the pour of rain from heaven was stopped.

As fontes das profundezas e as comportas do céu se fecharam, e a chuva parou.

3 A nd the waters retired from the earth, continually retiring; and in the course of a hundred and fifty days the waters abated.

As águas foram baixando pouco a pouco sobre a terra. Ao fim de cento e cinqüenta dias, as águas tinham diminuído,

4 A nd the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

e, no décimo sétimo dia do sétimo mês, a arca pousou nas montanhas de Ararate.

5 A nd the waters abated continually until the tenth month: in the tenth, on the first of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

As águas continuaram a baixar até o décimo mês, e no primeiro dia do décimo mês apareceram os topos das montanhas.

6 A nd it came to pass at the end of forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

Passados quarenta dias, Noé abriu a janela que fizera na arca.

7 A nd he sent out the raven, which went forth going to and fro, until the waters were dried from the earth.

Esperando que a terra já tivesse aparecido, Noé soltou um corvo, mas este ficou dando voltas.

8 A nd he sent out the dove from him, to see if the waters had become low on the ground.

Depois soltou uma pomba para ver se as águas tinham diminuído na superfície da terra.

9 B ut the dove found no resting-place for the sole of her foot, and returned to him into the ark; for the waters were on the whole earth; and he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ark.

Mas a pomba não encontrou lugar onde pousar os pés porque as águas ainda cobriam toda a superfície da terra e, por isso, voltou para a arca, a Noé. Ele estendeu a mão para fora, apanhou a pomba e a trouxe de volta para dentro da arca.

10 A nd he waited yet other seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.

Noé esperou mais sete dias e soltou novamente a pomba.

11 A nd the dove came to him at eventide; and behold, in her beak was an olive-leaf plucked off; and Noah knew that the waters had become low on the earth.

Ao entardecer, quando a pomba voltou, trouxe em seu bico uma folha nova de oliveira. Noé então ficou sabendo que as águas tinham diminuído sobre a terra.

12 A nd he waited yet other seven days, and sent forth the dove; but she returned no more to him.

Esperou ainda outros sete dias e de novo soltou a pomba, mas desta vez ela não voltou.

13 A nd it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first, on the first of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was dried.

No primeiro dia do primeiro mês do ano seiscentos e um da vida de Noé, secaram-se as águas na terra. Noé então removeu o teto da arca e viu que a superfície da terra estava seca.

14 A nd in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

No vigésimo sétimo dia do segundo mês, a terra estava completamente seca.

15 A nd God spoke to Noah, saying,

Então Deus disse a Noé:

16 G o out of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

“Saia da arca, você e sua mulher, seus filhos e as mulheres deles.

17 B ring forth with thee every animal which is with thee, of all flesh, fowl as well as cattle, and all the creeping things which creep on the earth, that they may swarm on the earth, and may be fruitful and multiply on the earth.

Faça que saiam também todos os animais que estão com você: as aves, os grandes animais e os pequenos que se movem rente ao chão. Faça-os sair para que se espalhem pela terra, sejam férteis e se multipliquem”.

18 A nd Noah went out, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him.

Então Noé saiu da arca com sua mulher e seus filhos e as mulheres deles,

19 A ll the animals, all the creeping things, and all the fowl—everything that moves on the earth, after their kinds, went out of the ark.

e com todos os grandes animais e os pequenos que se movem rente ao chão e todas as aves. Tudo o que se move sobre a terra saiu da arca, uma espécie após outra.

20 A nd Noah built an altar to Jehovah; and took of every clean animal, and of all clean fowl, and offered up burnt-offerings on the altar.

Depois Noé construiu um altar dedicado ao Senhor e, tomando alguns animais e aves puros, ofereceu-os como holocausto, queimando-os sobre o altar.

21 A nd Jehovah smelled the sweet odour. And Jehovah said in his heart, I will no more henceforth curse the ground on account of Man, for the thought of Man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will no more smite every living thing, as I have done.

O Senhor sentiu o aroma agradável e disse a si mesmo: “Nunca mais amaldiçoarei a terra por causa do homem, pois o seu coração é inteiramente inclinado para o mal desde a infância. E nunca mais destruirei todos os seres vivos como fiz desta vez.

22 H enceforth, all the days of the earth, seed and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease.

“Enquanto durar a terra, plantio e colheita, frio e calor, verão e inverno, dia e noite jamais cessarão”.
